CHIETA Bursary

ABOUT THE BURSAR

The Chemical Industries Education & Training Authority (CHIETA) are the Chemical SETA (Sector Education and Training Authorities), whose aim it is to assist in skills development within the chemical industries sector. CHIETA was established as a statutory body in 1998 by the Skills Development Act.

ABOUT THE BURSARY

Bursaries will be awarded within the following fields of study:
  • Base Chemicals
  • Explosives
  • Fast Moving Consumer Goods
  • Fertilisers
  • Glass
  • Petroleum
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Speciality Chemicals
  • Surface Coatings
The bursary award will cover the cost of tuition fees, to a maximum of R45 000/ annum for undergraduates students and R60 000/ annum for postgraduate students. Any balance of funds not spent on tuition fees, can be used to cover the cost of prescribed books and other study related expenses.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
  • South African citizen,
  • Between 16 and 35 years old,
  • Recently completed Matric,
  • Passed Physical Science and Mathematics in Matric,
  • Studying or intend to study full-time in one of the aforementioned fields of study,
  • Students who are currently studying, must be doing so at a recognised South African tertiary institution AND must have passed all subjects in previous semester/ year.

Mpumalanga Department of Health Bursary

ABOUT THE BURSAR

The province of Mpumalanga covers more than 78 000 km2 of land, has more than 3 million citizens and makes up 7.3% of the South African population. The Mpumalanga Department of Health is situated in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. The mission of the Department is to improve the quality of health for their people, by providing health care based on needs and delivery systems by skilled health professionals.

ABOUT THE BURSARY

The bursary is intended for students who wish to study towards a Nursing and Midwifery Diploma at the Mpumalanga College of Nursing. The Nursing Diploma covers Community, General and Psychiatry. The bursary will cover the cost of tuition fees and student will receive a fixed monthly stipend over the course of their studies. Students will attend lectures to gain theoretical knowledge, as well as take part in Work Integrated Learning within health facilities. On completion of their studies, students will be required to sign an employment agreement with the Department of Health to “work back” the bursary for an equal number of years as the bursary awarded.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
  • South African citizen
  • Citizen of Mpumalanga province
  • Currently in Matric OR have completed Matric with a degree/ diploma admission
  • Achieved a minimum of level 3 (SG D or HG E) for Mathematics in Matric OR a minimum of level 4 for Mathematical Literacy
  • Achieved a minimum of level 3 (SG D or HG E) for Geography/ Physical Science/ Agriculture
  • Achieved a minimum of level 4 (SG C or HG D) for Biology/ Physiology/ Life Sciences in Matric
  • Achieved a minimum of level 4 (SG C or HG D) for English in Matric
  • Achieved a minimum overall Admission Point Score (APS) of 25 points for six highest subjects (excluding Life Orientation)
  • Studying or intend on studying towards a 4 year Nursing/ Midwifery Diploma at the Mpumalanga College of Nursing

Tim Mills Memorial Bursary

ABOUT THE BURSAR

Tim Mills was a late director of the law firm, Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr, who sadly passed away in a motor vehicle accident in May 2012. The Tim Mills Memorial Bursary was created in memory of the well-respected employment lawyer, to carry on his legacy.

ABOUT THE BURSARY

This bursary is to be awarded to a postgraduate student, who intends to establish a career in the law faculty, by way of an LLM degree at a South African university of their choice. The bursary will cover tuition fees (to a maximum of R25 000 per student).

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
  • South African citizen or permanent resident
  • intend on enrolling for an LLM degree at any South African university

Students must have good problem-solving skills, have a driven attitude and be able to work well in a team.

ABOUT THE BURSARY

Bursaries will be awarded to students in their 3rd or final year of study, studying towards an Engineering or Science degree. Bursaries will cover the following expenses: tuition, registration, exam fees, accommodation allowance at university hostel, meal allowance, laptop allowance. On completion of their studies, students will be required to fulfill contractual work at Evraz Highveld for a period equal to that of their bursary award.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
  • South African citizen,
  • Achieved the following minimum results in Matric: level 5/ HG C for English, level 6/ HG B for Science, and level 7/ HG A for Mathematics,
  • Studying full-time towards an Engineering or Science qualification,

  • In the third or final year of study,
  • Passed all previous tertiary courses for your qualification,

Institute of Municipal Engineering of Southern Africa (IMESA) Bursary

ABOUT THE BURSAR

The Institute of Municipal Engineering of Southern Africa (IMESA) was founded in 1961 with the aim of promoting the interests of those within the municipal engineering discipline. The IMESA Bursary Scheme was initiated to provide financial assistance to students who would otherwise not be able to study within the Civil Engineering (or related) field.

ABOUT THE BURSARY

Bursaries will be awarded to students within the Civil Engineering. Those who are studying within other engineering disciplines should also apply – to be considered by the IMESA Executive Council. The bursary award will cover the following expenses: tuition fees and prescribed textbooks.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
  • South African citizen,
  • Current Matric students:
    • Accepted to study at a tertiary institution accredited by the ECSA in South Africa,
    • Accepted to study towards an Engineering qualification (degree/ dipolma),
    • Proven financial need.
  • Currently tertiary students:
    • Studying full-time towards an Engineering qualification,
    • Successfully completed the first year of studies.
*Students who are dependents of current IMESA members are also encouraged to apply.

ABOUT THE BURSAR

Western Cape Provincial Treasury Bursary : The Western Cape Government established the external bursary programme in 2001 as a way to help disadvantaged students fund their studies. The bursary aims to equip students with skills that are required in the job force.

  • Obtained a minimum average of 60% in previous year of study,
  • Postgraduate students: must have completed a B. degree in one of the aforementioned fields of study.
*Preference will be given to disadvantaged students and in financial need.
